What periods do these paintings cover?

The available works span several centuries, including 18th century sea battles, 19th century Victorian marine scenes, and post-war impressionist pieces. Buyers will find examples representing Georgian, Victorian, Edwardian, and mid-20th century stylistic developments.

Artworks frequently depict merchant vessels, fishing boats, three-masted schooners, and racing yachts upon rivers or open seas. Scenes range from calm Dutch coastal waters and French harbours to dramatic gales and naval engagements.

How do I identify different maritime styles?

Styles vary from detailed 19th century marine realism recording accurate ship rigging to looser British Impressionism and Post-Impressionism. Brushwork and atmospheric lighting choices help distinguish between academic historical records and expressive modernist interpretations.
