How do I care for my carpet?

Vacuum gently without a rotating brush to protect the delicate wool pile from unnecessary friction. Professional cleaning by specialists in antique textiles ensures the cotton foundations and wool fibres remain intact over decades.

Where were these rugs made?

The pieces originate primarily from regions across Persia and the Caucasus, spanning village workshops and nomadic camps. Local weaving traditions dictated the specific patterns, structural materials, and characteristic colour combinations found in each textile.

How do I identify different regional styles?

Regional identification relies on observing the distinct combination of motifs, such as Lesghi stars in Caucasian pieces or floral vases in Kashan rugs. Palettes, border arrangements, and structural density also point directly to specific weaving centres and village traditions.

Can I place these in high traffic areas?

Sturdy wool construction and robust cotton foundations allow many of these pieces to withstand normal daily use in hallways or living rooms. Placing a suitable underlay beneath the rug prevents slipping and reduces direct friction against hard flooring.
