What periods do these artworks cover?

The available selection spans from eighteenth-century engravings to mid-century modern oils from the nineteen-sixties. Early twentieth-century works from the Belle Epoque and interwar years are particularly well represented. Each period brings distinct stylistic approaches, moving from detailed topographical views to looser Impressionist interpretations of the urban landscape.

How were these cityscapes originally displayed?

Historic paintings and prints were typically hung in domestic interiors within wooden frames chosen to complement the decor of the period. Many retain their original frames, including vintage gilt wood designs. When hanging these pieces today, consider matching the frame style to your interior while ensuring adequate indirect lighting to protect the surface.

What subjects feature in these scenes?

Common subjects include iconic landmarks such as Notre Dame, the Eiffel Tower, the Pont Neuf, and the River Seine. Other works focus on everyday street life, winter scenes in Montmartre, and quiet quays. These varied viewpoints offer a comprehensive visual record of Paris through different decades and artistic movements.

How do I care for antique paintings?

Protect oil paintings and watercolours by keeping them out of direct sunlight and maintaining stable room temperatures. Avoid hanging them in areas with high humidity, such as kitchens or unventilated bathrooms. Dust frames gently with a dry, soft cloth and consult a professional conservator if the canvas or paper requires cleaning.
