How do I care for lacquered wood?

Dust the lacquered and painted surfaces gently with a soft, dry cloth to prevent scratching the finish. Avoid using harsh chemical cleaners or abrasive polishes that can damage the painted lacquer. Keep these lamps away from direct sunlight and excessive moisture to preserve the integrity of the wood and paint.

What period do these lamps come from?

The listings on this page span from the Victorian era through the Edwardian period and into the 1920s and 1930s. Edwardian Chinoiserie pieces form a substantial portion of the available standard lamps. Earlier examples from the nineteenth century also appear alongside pieces made in the interwar decades.

Do these lamps include shades?

Some standard lamps are offered complete with fabric shades designed to complement the proportions of the wooden standard. Other listings present the floor lamp base alone. Buyers should check individual descriptions to determine whether a coordinating shade accompanies the piece.
