How do I choose the right size?

Consider both the floor area and the ceiling height of the room before selecting a fixture. Smaller spaces accommodate single or three-light pieces, whereas expansive rooms require multi-tiered designs. Proportions matter more than light count alone, as heavy crystal arrangements demand adequate clearance to hang effectively without overwhelming the furniture below.

What periods do these chandeliers date from?

The selection spans from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries into the early twentieth century, specifically covering the 1900s, 1910s, 1920s, and 1930s. Each era brings distinct manufacturing techniques. Earlier pieces often feature hand-carved elements and traditional gilding methods, while 1920s and 1930s examples frequently showcase elaborate Florentine and Maria Theresa revivals.

How are coloured crystals used in these pieces?

Coloured crystals serve as decorative accents, shaped into specific botanical forms such as grapes, apples, pears, and floral clusters. These elements hang from the main arms or central stem. Such decorative additions introduce subtle hues and varied light refraction into the room, distinguishing them from standard clear crystal chandeliers.

What is a Florentine style chandelier?

A Florentine style chandelier relies on carved wooden frameworks finished with gold leaf or polychrome paint, often incorporating intricate leaf and floral motifs. These pieces emphasise organic shapes. They frequently feature multiple light branches paired with beaded elements, reflecting the distinct artisan traditions of the Italian region.
