What periods do these pieces span?

The works seen here primarily date from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, taking in the Georgian, Regency and Victorian eras. Later pieces stretch into the early twentieth century, reflecting enduring artistic interest in traditional rural subjects.

Are the frames original to the art?

Many pieces retain their original or period-appropriate giltwood and gesso frames, which show matching signs of age. Buyers should examine listing descriptions carefully to confirm whether the frame dates to the same period as the canvas or paper.

How do I care for antique oil paintings?

Keep paintings away from direct sunlight and dramatic fluctuations in temperature or humidity to protect the canvas and paint layers. Dust the gilt frame gently with a dry, soft brush and avoid using liquid cleaners on either the canvas or the gold leaf.
