How do I hang heavy giltwood sconces safely?

These fixtures require secure anchoring into wall studs or appropriate masonry fixings due to the weight of the carved wood and gesso. Employ professional installation methods to ensure the bracket bears the load without damaging the plaster.

Are these wall lights wired for electricity?

Many twentieth-century examples arrive adapted for modern electrical wiring, while older or candle-based pieces remain configured for wax tapers. Check individual descriptions to determine if a piece uses electrical components or traditional candle sockets.

How do I clean carved giltwood surfaces?

Dust the carvings gently with a soft, dry brush to prevent accumulation in the recesses of the gesso and leaf. Avoid liquid cleaners and harsh chemicals, which can strip the delicate metallic finish from the wood.

What distinguishes Rococo style in these sconces?

Rococo designs feature asymmetrical scrolls, C-scrolls, and naturalistic leaf motifs that depart from strict architectural symmetry. This aesthetic emphasises flowing organic movement across the carved wooden arms and backplates.
