How do I hang a watercolour?

Watercolour paintings require protection from direct sunlight to prevent the delicate pigments and paper from fading over time. Position the framed artwork on an interior wall away from moisture sources such as direct heat or dampness.

Are these works original?

The selection comprises original nineteenth and twentieth-century paintings rather than modern reproductions or prints. Each piece was hand-painted on paper by artists working across Britain and Europe during periods including the Victorian era and the 1920s.

How should I frame them?

Historic watercolours are best preserved behind glass with conservation-grade mounts that prevent the paper from touching the glazing directly. Simple wood frames that match the period of the piece help maintain its authentic aesthetic appeal.

What subjects are common?

Rural and coastal scenes dominate the available selection, featuring subjects such as farmyards, ruined castles, village streets, and quiet landscapes. Artists frequently recorded local topography, from Yorkshire landmarks to Spanish and French countryside views.
