How do I clean the walnut wood?

Dust the surfaces regularly with a soft, dry cloth to prevent dirt buildup on the veneer. Apply a traditional beeswax polish occasionally to nourish the timber and maintain a soft lustre without using modern silicone sprays.

Can I store heavy books inside?

The upper shelves accommodate standard book collections, though weight distribution remains important to protect historical timber. Heavier volumes sit best on the lower shelves to keep the tall structure stable and balanced during everyday use.

How do I tell an original from a revival?

Examine the construction methods inside the drawers and carcass, looking for hand-cut dovetails and timber shrinkage. Period pieces display natural signs of age in the wood and glass, whereas Edwardian or later copies show different tool marks and construction consistency.

Where should I place it in a room?

Position the piece against a sturdy interior wall away from direct sunlight and heat sources to protect the delicate veneer. Ensure adequate ceiling height, as these double domed bookcases stand exceptionally tall and require ample vertical clearance.
