What periods do these pieces come from?

The inventory spans the Georgian, Regency, Victorian, and twentieth-century eras, reflecting distinct historical framing and artistic traditions. Items range from eighteenth-century cartography to Art Deco watercolors, each reflecting the prevailing aesthetic of its decade.

How do I care for framed works on paper?

Works on paper require protection from direct sunlight to prevent the fading of watercolours and hand-coloured engravings housed beneath glass. Keeping them away from damp environments ensures the wooden frames and internal paper elements remain stable over time.

What woods are used for the frames?

Makers employed burr walnut, burr maple, and general burr timber to construct these decorative surrounds. The distinct knot formations create unique patterns on every moulding. These figured veneers were chosen specifically to complement the paintings, maps, and prints they enclosed.

Are all the artworks originals?

The selection includes original oil paintings, period watercolours, hand-coloured engravings, and antique maps. Each medium reflects the specific techniques of its creator. These pieces range from unique portrait miniatures to multi-plate topographical prints.
