How were dairy bowls used?

Dairy bowls served as shallow vessels where fresh milk sat undisturbed so the cream could rise to the surface. Once separated, the cream was skimmed off for butter-making, while the milk beneath was drained away for other uses.

How do I care for antique treen?

Keep antique treen away from direct sunlight, central heating sources, and rapid humidity changes to prevent the wood from splitting. Maintain the surface by applying occasional light coats of neutral beeswax rather than washing the wood in water.

How can I tell the age of treen?

Age is determined by observing tool marks, timber choice, construction techniques, and the presence of natural wear and patina. Hand-turned ridges, pegged joints, and species typical of eighteenth or nineteenth-century rural workshops help date each piece.
