How do I measure for a hearth curb?

Measure the width and depth of your fireplace hearth to ensure the inner dimensions of the fender fit comfortably around the opening. Take into account any protruding hearth stones or hearth rugs that need to sit inside or outside the metal barrier.

What is the difference between brass and steel fenders?

Brass fenders provide a bright, decorative metallic appearance that was favoured for formal nineteenth-century reception rooms. Steel and cast iron elements were frequently added to the core construction to provide the necessary weight and structural rigidity.

How do I clean antique brass?

Dust the metal gently with a soft cloth to remove surface grime without damaging the historic patina built up over the centuries. Avoid harsh modern chemical abrasives that strip away the aged finish and diminish the character of the antique surface.

Can these fit modern fireplaces?

These historical fireplace accessories can be placed around modern hearths provided the floor dimensions match the physical footprint of the fender. Check the internal measurements carefully because nineteenth-century hearth sizes often differ significantly from contemporary fireplace installations.
