Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The Meiji period (18681912) marked an era of rapid modernisation in Japan, during which master metalworkers turned traditional samurai armour-making techniques toward the creation of intricate, highly realistic bronze sculptures for the international export market.

These pieces were typically crafted using the traditional lost-wax casting (cire perdue) method with high-grade copper-alloy bronze, often featuring chemical patination and inlaid details such as glass eyes to achieve lifelike textures.

Authentic pieces often exhibit precise chisel work, sophisticated multi-toned patination, and cast or carved artist signatures and studio seals on the underside or reverse, alongside the dense weight characteristic of genuine bronze alloy.

A sculptural metal piece adds gravitas and textural contrast when displayed as a focal point on a dark wood mantelpiece, a minimalist console table, or within a dedicated study alongside literature and fine art.

Maintain antique bronze by dusting gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and avoid using liquid cleaners, polishes, or abrasive materials that can strip the historical patina and protective oxidisation layer.
