Description

John Duterrau and John Perigal formed one of the partnerships Regency period London desired. Both extremely capable clock and watch makers, they were granted the Royal Warrant by George III. (We will be suppling a small book with the sale of this clock which goes into depth of the family's histories and thier partnership)  The clock is of small propiortions and compact with a full opening front allowing for the use of the Strike-Silent lever above the twelve. The clock has a trip repeat which  sounds the last hour and the case is contructed of well chosen Mahogany with figured Mahogany to the front.  The dial is convex and the hands are gilt brass. The carry handle is solid cast brass and that sits on a single 'pad top' edged with brass. Fish scale frets to both sides and a glazed rear door. Interestingly the rear of the dial is inscribed 'No name' which usually means the clock was made for a government building/office in London. The twin fusee movement is beautifully engraved with the makers names in an oval.  Also supplied with a bespoke bracket made out of period mahogany to match the clock. Please message us to reserve.
