Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A bracket clock is a spring-driven portable clock housed in a timber case, popular in Britain from the seventeenth to nineteenth centuries. The name originates from the matching wall brackets on which they were originally mounted to allow weight and pendulum clearance.

Traditional bracket clocks feature mahogany, walnut, or ebony timber cases housing brass mechanical movements. External decorative elements frequently include cast brass spandrels, brass top carrying handles, and white enamel or silvered brass dials.

Authentic Georgian bracket clocks feature fusee movements, hand-engraved backplates, and period timber construction with flame mahogany or veneer finishes. Maker signatures on the dial or movement face indicate historical origin and attribution.

A bracket clock functions well placed on a fireplace mantelpiece, sideboard top, or bookshelf within a traditional or eclectic interior scheme. Pair the clock with neutral backdrops, brass accents, or framed artwork to complement the rich timber tones.

Maintain mechanical clock movements by having them cleaned and lubricated by a professional horologist every five to seven years. Keep the wooden case away from direct sunlight and heat sources, wiping the surface periodically with a dry cloth.
