This Bentwood coat stand, takes the form of a dem-lune (half round) shape allowing it to stand flush against a wall. The top section incorporates a crown of 4-curved “s” shaped double coat hooks above a large central turned column, which is topped with a turned bulbous finial. Further below, the base features a demi-lune ring, which supports umbrellas and sticks. Three curved twin legs support the hallstand firmly on the ground. The Bentwood coat stand is designed to stand against a wall, which makes this a sturdier hallstand than those with four legs. The fact that this is a demi-lune shaped hallstand makes it more unusual and sought after, compared to four-leg hallstands. It is also ideal in narrow hallways, as it can be placed against the wall, thus saving space.

Condition Report:
This is a fine quality and original antique English Bentwood coat stand, with a demi-lune design, in the manner of Thonet, from Edwardian period, circa 1920, in good original condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges and polish, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination. Importantly, there are no missing hooks or hook knobs (unlike others you see for sale). There are no breaks to the arms / hooks (which is common with these types of hallstands). The Bentwood coat stand is solid in joint and ready to use.
