Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Produced between 1830 and 1837, William IV furniture represents a transitional style bridging Regency elegance and Victorian solidity. Key attributes include bold proportions, turned or reeded pedestal supports, gadrooned details, and rich hardwoods such as mahogany and rosewood.

Tables from this period were predominantly constructed from solid or veneered Cuban and West Indian mahogany. Drawer construction typically features hand-cut dovetail joints, oak or pine drawer linings, and turned timber knobs or brass pull handles.

Authentic pieces display heavy hand-carved details, such as lotus leaf or reeded columns, resting on a sturdy quadripartite base with concave sides. Look for hand-sawn timber marks, original brass castors, and period locks on drawer fronts.

Position the table beside a contemporary sofa or armchairs to serve as a functional side table. The dark mahogany timber provides visual weight and warmth when contrasted against neutral walls and modern upholstered furniture.

Dust regularly with a soft, dry lint-free cloth, wiping in the direction of the wood grain. Apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to nourish the timber, avoiding silicone-based sprays and direct heat sources.
