Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Produced between 1830 and 1837, William IV work tables bridge the Regency and Victorian eras. They feature heavier, bolder proportions than earlier Regency pieces, often incorporating robust turned pedestal columns, U-shaped support frames, and quadform bases.

These tables were typically crafted from solid hardwoods such as mahogany, rosewood, or walnut, combined with decorative veneers. The lower sewing wells or baskets were usually lined or wrapped in silk, damask, or cotton fabrics to hold needlework materials.

Look for period-correct joinery such as hand-cut dovetails inside the drawer boxes, original brass castors beneath a shaped platform base, and turned wooden drawer knobs. Authentic pieces exhibit natural timber patination and age-related wear around the pedestal and base.

A work table serves effectively as an occasional side table beside an armchair or sofa. Its compact footprint and internal storage make it useful in living rooms, hallways, or reading nooks for holding books and small home accessories.

Keep the piece away from direct sunlight and radiators to prevent wood warping and fabric fading. Clean the mahogany surface using a high-quality beeswax polish applied with a soft cloth, and lightly vacuum or brush the fabric basket to remove dust.
