Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Regency tilt top table is an early 19th-century occasional piece characterized by a hinged top mechanism mounted on a single central pedestal. Designed for flexibility in living spaces, the top locks horizontally for use and tilts vertically for compact storage along a room perimeter.

These pieces were primarily crafted from solid or veneered mahogany, chosen for its rich figure and stability. Construction features turned pedestalsoften with spiral flutingsupported by three splayed cabriole legs, and held upright by an iron or brass catch mechanism.

Authentic Regency examples display hand-cut dovetail joints on the under-top batten block, original metal latches, and natural wear patterns along the feet and pivot points. The central column often exhibits hand-turned or hand-carved details such as gadrooning or spiral twisting.

Position the piece adjacent to modern seating as an occasional side table, or lock the top in its vertical position against an unused wall space to display the natural wood grain as decorative timber art.

Maintain the finish by dusting with a soft cloth and applying a pure beeswax polish sparingly along the grain. Keep the table away from direct heat sources and radiators to prevent shrinking, splitting, or warping of the wood surface.
