C1910-1930 Brass Oil Lamp with Shade

1900 - 1920
Description

Circa 1900-1920 - a striking hand painted oil lamp in good condition with an unusual brass column on the original polished terracotta base. It comes with an etched glass shade that may have been a replacement to some years ago.

With the glass funnel in position, the lamp measures 61cm in height and the base is approximately 18cm in diameter.

The glass font is beautifully decorated with fruit and flowers and there is no sign of damage anywhere.

The word DUPLEX is clearly stamped on both wick handles. Duplex created the most successful range of paraffin lamps in 1865 using two wicks side by side.
