Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A demi-lune games table is a semi-circular piece of accent furniture featuring a hinged fold-over top designed to expand into a circular playing surface for card games. Originating in the eighteenth century, these versatile tables double as compact hall or console tables when closed against a wall.

Walnut games tables typically feature decorative burr walnut veneers applied over solid hardwood framing, supported by carved cabriole legs. Traditional joinery includes hand-cut dovetails on internal gate-leg mechanisms and detailed hand-carved motifs along the knees and frieze.

Authentic pieces exhibit natural variations in the figure of the burr veneer, hand-carved decorative elements, and original brass hinges displaying historic oxidisation. Age-appropriate surface wear and consistent patination on the timber underside also indicate original period construction.

Position the table folded closed in an entryway or living space as a decorative console, styled with a table lamp or ceramic vase. When hosting guests, move the piece into the centre of the room and swivel open the top to create a functional card table.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft dry cloth and apply clear beeswax along the timber grain once or twice a year to preserve moisture. Avoid placing the table near radiators or in direct sunlight to prevent the thin burr veneer from drying out or lifting.
