Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Queen Anne style furniture, emerging in the early 18th century, is characterised by graceful curves, cabriole legs, pad feet, and refined shell or scallop carvings. Emphasis was placed on line, form, and figured wood veneers like walnut rather than heavy surface ornamentation.

Traditional card tables from this period were primarily constructed using walnut, mahogany, or fruitwoods, often accented with figured burr veneers. Internal linings frequently featured woven baize fabric on the playing surface, supported by oak or pine secondary timbers.

Authentic period examples display hand-cut dovetail joints, original gate-leg or rear swivel mechanics, oak secondary drawer linings, and natural age oxidation on unpainted underside surfaces. Carved knee details, such as shell motifs, were worked directly into the timber rather than applied.

Positioned against a wall when folded closed, the demilune shape functions as a compact console table in hallways, dining spaces, or drawing rooms. Pair it with contemporary wall art, framed mirrors, or minimalist table lamps to create a balanced contrast between historic design and modern decor.

Dust surfaces regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to maintain moisture. Keep the piece away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent veneer warping, cracking, or colour fading.
