Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in 18th-century Britain, a Georgian fold-over games table is a piece of occasional furniture designed with a hinged double-leaf top. When closed, it serves as a narrow wall or console table; when opened, it reveals an expanded playing surface for cards and parlour games.

Tables from this period were predominantly crafted from solid dense mahogany imported from the West Indies. Construction features include hand-dovetailed drawer joints, hand-carved cabriole legs, cast brass drop handles, and wood-hinged gate-leg or swing-leg supports.

Authentic pieces exhibit signs of period craftsmanship, such as irregular hand-sawn timber marks on unrefined undersides, cast brass hardware with original oxidisation, hand-shaped pad feet, and natural surface patination around high-wear areas.

Position the table closed against a narrow hall wall or behind a modern sofa to serve as a compact console. Decorate the surface with minimalist ceramics or a table lamp, unfolding the leaf only when additional tabletop area is required.

Maintain the finish by dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth and applying a beeswax polish annually. Keep the timber away from direct heat sources, radiators, and prolonged sunlight to prevent structural warping and finish drying.
