Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in the eighteenth century during the reign of King George III, Irish card tables of this era typically feature dense, dark mahogany timber, carved cabriole legs, and distinctive regional craftsmanship such as pronounced knee carvings and shaped aprons.

Craftsmen primarily utilised solid mahogany and rich wood veneers, employing hand-cut dovetail joinery, gate-leg or swinging rear-leg mechanisms, and double wooden hinges to support the fold-over playing top.

Authentic pieces display evidence of hand-planed timber surfaces, period-correct mortise and tenon joinery, natural wood shrinkage along the grain, and hand-carved decorative motifs on the knees and feet.

Positioned against a wall with the top folded closed, these pieces function effectively as hall tables or sideboards in entryways, corridors, and living rooms to display lamps and decorative accessories.

Maintain the timber by dusting regularly with a dry microfibre cloth, applying high-grade beeswax sparingly along the grain twice a year, and keeping the piece away from direct sunlight or radiators to prevent warping.
