Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A George III architects table is an 18th-century mechanical desk designed with an adjustable height structure and a ratcheted hinged top. Developed during the Georgian era, these tables allowed draughtsmen and scholars to work standing up or sitting down at various angles.

These tables are primarily constructed from solid and veneered mahogany, featuring brass ratchets, hinges, and castors. Dovetail joints, hand-carved supports, and internal iron or brass rise-and-fall mechanisms are defining structural characteristics of the period.

Authentic pieces feature period-correct brass hardware, hand-cut dovetail joinery, and natural wear along the mechanical runners. Look for original hand-planed timber surfaces underneath and age-appropriate patination on the mahogany and metal components.

An architects table functions well as a focal statement piece in a dedicated home office, study, or hallway. It can be displayed with contemporary art books, desk accessories, or used as a unique standing workstation.

Preserve mahogany surfaces by dusting with a soft cloth and applying beeswax polish periodically in the direction of the wood grain. Keep the piece away from direct heat sources and extreme humidity changes to prevent timber movement or joint loosening.
