Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian writing desks, dating from 1901 to 1910, are characterised by lighter, refined proportions compared to Victorian furniture, often featuring classical revival motifs, fine wood veneers, and functional mechanical elements like adjustable or tilting tops.

These desks were primarily crafted using high-grade mahogany, satinwood, or walnut, often featuring solid oak drawer linings, hand-cut dovetail joints, brass drop handles, and brass castors on slender legs.

Genuine Edwardian pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joinery inside drawers, authentic oxidisation on untreated timber undersides, original stamped brass hardware, and subtle asymmetry or slight irregularities characteristic of handcraftsmanship.

Position the desk as a focal point in a home office or bedroom alcove, pairing it with contemporary lighting, minimal desktop accessories, and an upholstered modern chair to balance historical character with clean contemporary lines.

Dust regularly with a soft dry cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year in the direction of the wood grain, avoiding commercial aerosol polishes, direct sunlight, and placement near heat sources.
