We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Regency writing tables, crafted between approximately 1811 and 1830, are characterised by classical proportions, high-grade timbers such as mahogany or rosewood, turned or reeded legs, and refined brass hardware.

English cabinetmakers during the Regency period primarily utilised solid mahogany and mahogany veneers, brass drawer pulls, castors, and occasionally leather writing surfaces or hand-cut dove-tailed drawer construction.

Authentic 19th-century kneehole desks feature hand-sawn drawer linings, original brass lock mechanisms, natural hand-turned or reeded leg details, and signs of age-appropriate oxidisation on the timber underside and inside drawer cavities.

A Regency writing table functions well as a dedicated workspace in a modern home office or living room corner, styled with contemporary desk accessories, a modern task lamp, and a minimalist chair to balance classic and modern aesthetics.

Maintain mahogany timber by dusting regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and applying a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year, keeping the piece away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber cracking or finish fading.
