Antique Georgian Oak Hall Bench Settle Possibly Westmoreland Origins C1780 Wdb6143/29.11

Description

Lovely antique george 111 carved oak settle hall bench dating from aorund 1780 with earlier origins. We feel that the back of the settle has been made from the front of and earlier oak coffer which is possibly westmoreland oak with beautifully carved strapping and the visible keyhole to the centre. It has shaped armrests and stands on turned legs with a pad foot. At some point the original plank seat has been replaced and it has a foam seat pad above a carved lunette frieze.

In very good condition with a lovely colour and patination to the oak oozing the charm and character of the georgian period with earlier 17th century backrest.

Measures: 37" high X seat height 18" X 24.5" deep X 49" wide
