Rare Victorian Fretwork Coal Box

Description

This is a very unusual and visually attractive late Victorian mahogany coal scuttle dating from1897. This has a good colour to the stunning blind fretwork, worked throughout the piece. It has a carved date and initials to the top as well as a registered number to the decorative brass hinges which are embossed with scrolls, leaves and masks. The brass ware is all in very good condition as is the lovely original brass shovel that comes with the piece. Still in eminently good useable condition

The cabinet measures 45 cms high 45 cms deep by 35 cms wide.
