Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Produced between 1860 and 1900, late Victorian brass candlesticks are characterised by machine-turned shafts, decorative knops, and cast bases. During this era, manufacturing techniques evolved to allow precise faceted designs, often featuring heavy polished brass finishes.

Victorian brass candlesticks were typically cast in multiple hollow sections, such as the sconce, stem, and base, which were then joined together using threaded rods or solder. Bases were often weighted or shaped into square, octagonal, or circular forms to provide stability.

Authentic period pieces often feature internal screw threads connecting the column sections, faint hand-finishing or seam marks, and natural wear or oxidisation on unpolished undersides. Many examples from this period also include internal ejector mechanisms designed to push out spent candle stubs.

Antique brass candlesticks can be displayed as a symmetrical pair on a fireplace mantelpiece or grouped in varied heights along a dining table centrepiece. Their metallic surface provides warm tone contrast against contemporary dark or neutral backdrops.

Warm wax residue should be melted off using hot water rather than scraped with metal tools to prevent scratching. To maintain high lustre, apply a specialized non-abrasive metal polish with a soft microfibre cloth, buffing gently along the turned surfaces.
