Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian King of Diamonds candlesticks are 19th-century cast brass candle holders characterised by a distinctive diamond-shaped faceted central knop, originally produced to mark significant national occasions during Queen Victorias reign.

They were typically sand-cast in solid brass in two vertical halves, joined together, turned on a lathe, and finished with stepped square or octagonal bases. Many examples featured internal steel push-ejector mechanisms to extract burnt candle ends.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit subtle vertical seam lines from two-part casting, circular turning marks on the underside of the base, proportional weight, and period-correct mechanical push-up ejectors inside the stem.

Position a paired set on a fireplace mantelpiece, sideboard, or dining table to introduce warm metallic tones that contrast effectively against modern dark paint schemes or neutral plaster finishes.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a mild brass polish sparingly to remove oxidisation, avoiding harsh chemical dip cleaners or abrasive scouring pads that can scratch the surface.
