Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in late 18th-century England and named after cabinetmaker George Hepplewhite, the style is recognised by lightweight, delicate proportions, shield- or oval-shaped chair backs, and straight, square tapered legs.

Georgian dining chairs were predominantly crafted from dense West Indian or Cuban mahogany, valued for its rich grain and strength, often paired with woven silk, wool, or leather upholstered seats.

Authentic period pieces show signs of hand craftsmanship, such as hand-cut mortise and tenon joinery, subtle asymmetry in carvings, irregularity in hand-sawn secondary timbers, and natural patination on untamed surfaces.

Pairing dark mahogany chairs with contemporary marble or light oak tables creates a balanced contrast, while reupholstering the seats in crisp neutral linen or bold modern textiles helps integrate them into modern schemes.

Dust regularly with a soft cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to nourish the timber, keeping the chairs away from direct sunlight and central heating radiators to prevent drying and cracking.
