Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Pietra dura is an inlay technique using cut and fitted polished coloured stones to create decorative patterns or images. Popularised in Florence during the Renaissance, this art form was frequently incorporated into fine furniture tops throughout the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.

These tables feature tops set with semi-precious hardstones such as agate, jasper, lapis lazuli, and chalcedony embedded into a dark marble or slate matrix, supported by carved timber frames such as mahogany or walnut.

Authentic historical pieces display fine micro-gaps and hand-cut precision where stones join, rather than uniform modern resin fills. The underlying wooden frame should exhibit traditional joinery, natural age patina, and hand-carved construction.

An inlaid stone side table functions effectively as a decorative accent in a reading nook or alongside a structured armchair. Its detailed stone motif provides visual interest when paired with contemporary neutral upholstery and subtle ambient lighting.

Clean the hardstone surface with a soft, damp microfibre cloth and avoid acidic or abrasive chemical cleaners that can etch natural stone. Position the wooden structure away from direct heat sources and apply a high-quality beeswax polish to the timber annually.
