Victorian Gothic Revival Hanging Cupboard

A fine and decorative Gothic Revival pitch pine hanging wall cupboard. The cupboard is beautifully constructed with two galleried shelves above a double door cupboard with working lock and key. The whole is made of pitch pine with a great original colour and patina. The two cupboard doors are inset with the original chromolithograph gothic diptych prints under glass, showing a King and Queen with their retinues. This use of prints in the doors is very unusual, wonderfully decorative and theatrical. The top shelf retains the original tooled and gilded leather trim. The whole is a beautifully decorative and original piece of unusual Gothic Revival furniture. C.1870.
