Here we have a truly outstanding and stately Victorian carved Oak hall settle or bench c1880. As you can see the settle has great colour and patina. The settle has great provenance and was comissioned by the then owners of Wood Hall Hilgay Norfolk from Edwards and Roberts of London c1880. It has resided in the hallway ever since. The estate is currently for sale at a cost of 9.35 million and was the subject of a best selling book by Mollie Moran Aprons and Silver Spoons. There is a rounded top rail with Lion head finials at each end. There is gadrooned decoration below going outward from the centre and three fielded panels below. The panels have wonderful Gothic tracery and central relief carved Lion Heads. The arms have panelled supports again with carved Lion heads and the arms themselves terminate in large Lion heads.
