Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Produced during the reign of King William IV between 1830 and 1837, these tables mark the transition from delicate Regency proportions to heavier Victorian forms. They typically feature fold-over swivel tops, sturdy central pedestals, gadrooned borders, and prominent carved lion paw or scroll feet.

Makers favoured rich, heavily grained hardwoods, predominantly rosewood and mahogany. The tops often featured decorative veneers over solid timber cores, complemented by brass hinges, baize linings on the interior gaming surface, and cast iron or brass castors beneath carved wood feet.

Authentic pieces display period construction techniques, including hand-cut dovetail joints inside internal well compartments and wood-pinned hinges. Design cues include bold carved details such as gadrooning or lotus leaves, robust quadform bases, and deep patination on original rosewood veneers.

When folded, the table functions as a console or side table against a wall or in an entryway, supporting decorative ceramics or lighting. When unfolded, it transforms into an operational table for board games, bridge, or occasional dining in a living area or study.

Keep the wood away from direct sunlight and heat sources to avoid bleaching and veneer shrinkage. Dust regularly with a clean, dry cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish annually along the wood grain to preserve the original finish.
