Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The William IV period spans from 1830 to 1837, marking a transition between Regency elegance and Victorian solidity. Furniture from this era typically features bold architectural silhouettes, substantial pedestal bases, rich timber veneers, and heavy carved leaf scroll decorations.

Card tables from this era were primarily constructed using flame mahogany or rosewood veneers over solid oak or pine frameworks. Interior surfaces often featured baize lining, while mechanical components utilized brass hinges and castors.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit a swivel fold-over top mechanism, an internal storage compartment for playing cards, a tapered central column, and a shaped plinth base ending in carved scroll feet with brass castors underneath.

A fold-over card table functions effectively as an entryway console table when placed flat against a wall. The surface can display lamps, ceramic vessels, or books, while remaining mobile enough to unfold into a functional gaming surface when required.

Maintain mahogany surfaces by dusting with a soft, lint-free cloth and applying a high-grade beeswax polish along the wood grain twice yearly. Keep the item away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent the timber from splitting or fading.
