M Lees and Sons has dated this George II Card Table to the Georgian era.
. The rear leg having a hinged gate action to support the fold-over top when opened.

The shaped fold-over top fitted with brass hinges opening to reveal circular dished candle-stick rests to the corners and oval dished ‘guinea wells’ for holding coins or gambling chips . The interior lined with a later period-style colourful needlework or tapestry gaming surface , featuring a floral border with playing cards of various suits, shaped Chinese mother o’pearl gambling tokens and floral sprigs to the centre. Forms a 33” square table when opened .

In excellent original condition , retaining the original polished surface which has achieved a superb rich colour and patina. Minor historic marks and scratches to the top surface, commensurate with age, use and purpose.
A classic design mid-Georgian period table of practical proportions in fine and usable condition.
