A cushion mirror, also known as a mirror a pareclose, features a central main mirror plate surrounded by angled secondary mirror panels. Popularised in 19th-century France, these designs typically incorporate ornate embossed brass or metalwork mounts.

These mirrors are typically constructed with a solid wooden backing frame overlayed with thin sheets of embossed brass or copper repousse metalwork. The mirrored glass sections are hand-cut and traditionally finished with silver backing.
