Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

George III card tables typically feature a semi-circular or demilune top that folds over to reveal a playing surface. Constructed primarily from fine-grained mahogany, they often display straight or tapered legs, clean classical proportions, and understated decorative elements such as subtle stringing or inlay.

These tables were framed in dense Cuban or West Indian mahogany, frequently paired with secondary timber like oak or pine for internal drawer linings and framework. The mechanism relies on wooden gate-legs or swing-legs connected with iron or brass butt hinges.

Authentic period pieces display hand-sawn secondary timber, hand-cut dovetails, and uneven oxidation on unpainted surfaces. Look for original brass hinges, evidence of timber shrinkage along the grain, and authentic age wear to the leg terminals and folding joints.

Position the folded table flush against a hallway or living room wall to function as a compact console table. Top it with contemporary ceramics, a table lamp, or framed artwork to create a balanced contrast between historical timber and modern accents.

Dust the surface regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and avoid placing the item near radiators or direct sunlight to prevent timber movement. Apply a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year, buffing along the grain to preserve the original patina.
