Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Georgian card table is an 18th-century item of furniture designed with a hinged foldover top, created for playing card games during social gatherings. When closed, the piece served as a compact side table or console table against a room perimeter.

These tables were predominantly crafted from dense Cuban or Honduran mahogany, utilising oak or pine as secondary internal timbers. Construction involved hand-cut dovetail joints, brass hinges, and swinging rear legs or concertina mechanisms to support the top leaf when opened.

Authentic pieces display hand-sawn wood marks on unseen surfaces, original brass drop hinges, and proportional cabriole or tapered legs ending in pad or claw feet. Natural timber shrinkage over centuries typically produces slight surface irregularities alongside an established patination.

Position the table against a wall in an entryway or hallway to function as a narrow console for display objects. Alternatively, place it in a study or living area where the surface can be unfolded for board games.

Dust regularly using a dry microfibre cloth and apply a beeswax polish once or twice annually to protect the finish. Position the item away from direct heat sources and bright sunlight to prevent wood shrinkage, movement, or colour fading.
