We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A fold-over card table is a piece of occasional furniture designed in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries specifically for playing card games. When closed, it serves as a compact console or side table against a wall, expanding into a larger surface when opened.

Georgian card tables were typically constructed from mahogany or walnut, frequently featuring rich flame mahogany veneers on the top surface. Internal frames were often built using secondary woods such as oak or pine, with some examples incorporating baize playing surfaces.

Authentic period examples feature hand-cut dovetail joints, carved corner spandrels or legs, and original brass hinges or gate-leg support mechanisms. The timber displays natural oxidisation, grain depth, and light surface wear consistent with age.

Positioned against a hallway or living room wall, a closed card table functions as an entryway console supporting a lamp or decorative display. Its folding mechanism allows it to be opened easily when extra table surface is required.

Keep the timber positioned away from direct sunlight and radiators to avoid drying out the wood or damaging the veneer. Dust regularly with a soft cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish periodically to retain the surface sheen.
