Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A clock garniture is a decorative three-piece set popularised in France during the 18th and 19th centuries, comprising a central mantel clock flanked by a matching pair of side ornaments such as urns, cassolettes, or candelabra.

These clock sets were typically crafted using cast bronze, spelter (regule), or brass, frequently combined with gilded finishes (ormolu) and mounted on polished marble or alabaster plinths.

Authentic pieces often feature French movement stamps (such as Vincenti or Japy Freres) on the backplate, enamel or porcelain dials, finely chased bronze castings, and heavy marble or slate bases.

A clock garniture is traditionally styled symmetrically along a fireplace mantelpiece, console table, or sideboard, serving as a formal anchor piece that complements modern minimalist or classic eclecticism.

Dust metal elements gently with a soft dry brush or microfibre cloth, avoiding harsh chemicals that strip original patination, while marble surfaces should be cleaned using a damp cloth and mild neutral soap.
