Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A French clock garniture is a decorative set consisting of a central mantelpiece clock flanked by a pair of matching side ornaments, such as urns, vases, or candelabra. Emerging prominently in the 18th and 19th centuries, these sets were designed to create symmetry and elegance above a fireplace.

Traditional garniture sets were constructed using fine porcelain, heavy cast brass, and gilded bronze, often referred to as ormolu. Clock movements were crafted from solid brass components featuring hand-painted enamel dials.

Authentic pieces feature heavy, detailed bronze casting with evidence of hand-tooling, hand-painted porcelain panels rather than printed transfers, and maker marks stamped on the internal clock movement plates.

Place the three-piece set along a living room mantelpiece or atop a formal dining room sideboard to create a balanced focal point. Contrast the ornate gilded detailing by positioning it against matte, contemporary wall tones.

Dust surfaces regularly using a clean, soft brush or dry microfibre cloth. Avoid chemical polishes or water on gilded areas, as moisture can degrade applied gold leaf or gilding, and have mechanical movements serviced by a professional horologist.
