Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Sideboards from the Georgian and Regency periods are characterised by symmetrical proportions, fine flame mahogany veneers, and functional storage arrangements including cellarettes and cutlery drawers. Design elements frequently feature tapered square legs, brass galleried rails, and inlaid stringing in contrast woods.

Authentic 18th and early 19th-century sideboards typically utilise solid mahogany and fine mahogany veneers laid over pine or oak carcases. Construction features hand-cut dovetail joints, oak or pine drawer linings, and cast brass hardware such as lion mask ring handles.

Authenticity can be verified by examining hand-cut dovetails, irregular tool marks on the reverse, and natural wear patterns on the drawer runners. Original cast brass hardware, period keyholes, and genuine oxidisation on the timber underside also indicate period construction.

A traditional mahogany sideboard functions as a focal point in a modern dining room, hallway, or living space. Styling can be balanced by pairing the dark timber with contemporary artwork, minimalist table lamps, or structured ceramic vessels on the top surface.

Maintain the polished finish by dusting regularly with a soft lint-free cloth and applying a beeswax polish annually in the direction of the grain. Brass fittings should be cleaned gently without abrasive liquid polishes that can damage the surrounding wood finish.
