Description

A rare exceptional late C17th English oak settle; lovely original condition with a good colour and patina; the high panelled back with three rectangular panels carved with scroll work decoration. The centre panel dated '1697' below a carved, stylised tree. The four moulded square panels below, having geometrical carved patterns. The shaped arms on squat baluster supports, above the two plank seat with a moulded edge, raised on turned baluster legs and slender baluster turned supports, joined by moulded stretchers.
