A stunning and highly unusual Arts and Crafts oak washstand from the late Victorian period. The plinth is of a swept bracket design above which is an open shelf and a single cupboard with oxidized copper hinges and handle, then rising to an oversailing bowed drawer section with carved acanthus to the outer edges and two drawer centrally, both with their original bold drop handles. The variated black and white marble top is in great condition and gives way to a floral tiled back that has most unusual deep yellow tiles to the border. The carved top rail has a scrolled carved inset that has an unique carved flower to the centre. With it''s oversailing top this piece be used as a desk amongst it''s many other possibilities. The general condition is very good and ready for the next century.
