Fine Early 18th Century Walnut Lowboy

Exceptional George I Walnut Lowboy of absolutely wonderful faded Walnut colour and patina, retaining the original chased brass handles and lock. The matched walnut veneers are bordered with a fine checkered banding , the top with a double checkered banding. The elegantly shaped cabriole legs are finished at the base with a carved slipper foot that is so typical of this early period. The cross grain ogee moulding to the edge of the top features carved inverted corners to the front. The fine cross grain lip mould to the edge of the drawer fronts is a feature typical of the George I period. The drawer linings are clean and original and made in pine. The period key works the lock to the top drawer.
