The Canterbury comprises an outer frame with finely turned supports at each corner, decorated with elegant turned finials. The Canterbury is divided into four compartments, by five rows of simple supports, each row topped with a curved horizontal bar. The central divider is fixed and incorporates a carrying handle, which is really useful if you want to pick it up and move it somewhere else in the room! The compartments are ideal for storing magazines, newspapers or music sheets. Below is a drawer, which retains the original wooden knobs and is mahogany lined, constructed with fine hand dovetailing. The Canterbury is raised on its original turned legs which retain the original brass castor collars and wheels. The Canterbury has been constructed from the finest mahogany timbers. The Canterbury has been traditionally French polished by hand to a professional standard in our workshop, therefore the patination and colour of an excellent standard.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
