Originating in 19th-century Europe, Rococo Revival console tables draw inspiration from 18th-century French Louis XV furniture. They feature elaborate asymmetry, S-scrolls, C-scrolls, floral carving, and are designed to stand directly against a wall.

These tables typically consist of a carved softwood or hardwood frame covered in plaster gesso and leaf gilding, topped with a fitted, polished marble slab.

Authentic pieces feature signs of aged gesso underneath the gold leaf, natural wear or oxidisation to the gilded layer, hand-carved joinery underneath, and historic stone cutting marks on the underside of the marble top.
